hier ein paar beispiele von soundeigenschaften verschiedener Holzarten,
hoffe du kannst was damit anfangen:
Ash: White colored wood. punchy knock sound with good sustain. sharp attack with Smooth decay. simmilar to oak in apearance but a little softer. excellent woody tone Takes stain very evenly.
Hard Rock Maple: White colored wood often figured with birdseys and curls. Renouned for decades as the best domestic high end drum kit wood. Warm and round. Very forgiving to the listeners ear. explosive attack wih great sustain and wood tone. Great for live situations. Takes stain but not as evenly as ash or oak.
Birch: light colored wood, off white, almost pinkish overtone very simmilar to maple but with better high end and a punchier sharper attack. Faster decay. Used by many profesionals throughout the industry. Considered excxellent for recording and more versitle than maple for live situations. Sound is big fat boomy and punchy but with out the long sustain and overtone of maple. Takes stain but not as evenly as ash or oak.
Jatoba Cherry. Orange brown wood often streaked with dark lines. Similar to birch in sound but the wood is much harder creating an even sharper attack with almost glassy highs. very punchy. Oustanding sound quality. Excellent for live or recording. I call it birch on steroids. Much too hard to take stain but the wood is very nice looking.
Bubinga AKA African Rosewood: Color: medium to dark pinkish brown usually figured with wild grain patterns and irradecent curls. The most popular of all the woods I use. Very beautiful with excellent tone. Long smooth decay. Very focused sound. The cleanest sounding wood I have ever found. unique tone with lots of bite. very versitle with a wide range of available tones in the drum. A great choice for any type of music. Works well for recording as well as live situations.
Purple heart: Purple colored wood. Sound is incredible. like maple on steroids. One of the hardest woods I use. Long smooth decay. Very warm sound. Focused and round with excellent woody tone and character. outstanding lows, mids and highs. A full range drum sound. The sound of purple heart is very hard to beat, except with a stick.
Padouk: One of my favorite woods for sound and apearance. One of the most visually stunning and best sounding woods I have used. Redish orange when cut darkening to a brick red brown. Often streaked with dark lines. Outstanding tone with long decay and a glass like bite. lots of variation of sounds within the drum. very loud with sharp attack and killer punch. My personal favorite.
Cocobolo: Chocolate brown with crazy grain patters. Extreemly dense and waxy wood. Fantastic sound quality. Very much like padouk in terms of sound but a little drier. All I can say is it a totally awsome sounding wood. Very versitile with a wide range of tones within the drum. If you want a unique and aggressive sound this is it.
Oak: Two types of oak are Red and White. Very much alike in terms of sound. Used a lot for congas and bongos because the sound is very good. Warm and round with lots of sustain. The sound is excellent and the tone is very woody with great versitility and punch. Very hard wood and readily available. Full bodied, Bright, with great projection, Takes stain very well.
