If you enjoyed The Daily Adventures of Mixerman, you’re going to love the television show called Mixerman Chronicles. But it can’t happen without your help.
Great news! I have teamed up with Thomas Marino, a rather talented, up-and-coming independent film director, to co-produce the Pilot Episode of Mixerman Chronicles, a proposed 30 minute show based on the original book, The Daily Adventures of Mixerman.
As some of you may know, I had developed this product as a television series towards the end of the last decade. I had a production company on board. We had Fox Studios ready to fund the project. Unfortunately, even with a funding source, at the time there was a limited number of outlets, which was diminished further by events beyond our control. So, it didn’t get sold. Yet.
In the past few years, the number of outlets has grown exponentially. Between Netflix, Hulu, Yahoo, Youtube, and somewhat more aggressive subscription networks, looking for content by Hollywood outsiders, the calculus has changed. Today, if we can make it, and people come, we can sell it.
I've always contended, if I could make the Pilot Episode of the series, and put it up on the internet, the product will sell itself. You have to understand, I had 150,000 unique visitors every day by the time I finished posting the original diary. That was in 2002, a time when the internet wasn't nearly as widespread, and therefore considerably less potentially explosive as it is now. So, I have no doubt, if we make the product we envision, people will come. Of course, first we've got to make it. That's where you come in.
We have put up a campaign on Indiegogo in order to raise the money to make the Pilot. We need a minimum of $150,000, to produce a quality pilot, which is basically the prequel and setup for the show. The product is designed as a full half hour weekly series for broadcast on non-commercial outlets. The Pilot is written as two half hour episodes, back to back. We currently have the entire first season story arc written, including the first three scripts. So, if we happen to acquire more funds than our goal, we very well may shoot the third episode too. And with your help, we can most certainly overachieve. But it does require your help.
This is the culmination of years of work, and it's time to finally put a show on television that accurately portrays the music and recording industries. The entire first season will be spent with your favorite characters from the band Bitch Slap, Willy Show, the infamous producer, Penny Pincher, the sexy villainous A&R rep, Shortypants, the cantankerous band manager, Fingaz, the racially delusional wegro, and a new character, Wanda Wares, Mixerman's gorgeous and aggressive manager, and partner in crime.
Please take a moment and visit our IndieGoGo page. There are a number of great perks for donating to the cause, and we can't do it without fan funding. So, if you read The Daily Adventures of Mixerman, if you derived immense enjoyment from my daily entries, then now is the time to step up and help with the cause. You won't regret it.
We have about 45 days at the writing of this to raise the money, and I'm coming to you for help in getting the word out. If you're a Facebook user, like my Mixerman page, and share my links to the campaign. If you post on other audio sites, tell your friends there about the effort. I can get the word out, but I can't blow this up alone. If you loved The Daily Adventures of Mixerman--the blog, the book, or the audiobook dramatization--then you're going to love the television series. But honestly, this will never happen without raising the funds. And the Womb community is critical on that front.
So please, help me get the word out to the far corners of the internet. Tell all your friends this is a worthwhile investment on their part. Even if it's just a few bucks.
The campaign has been live for a number of days now while I finished mixing an album. We have the entire film crew lined up for the summer, and so we had to start the campaign before I was ready to promote it. In other words, don't be fooled by the lack of response so far. The campaign officially starts now, with you. Donate and spread the word! You won’t regret it.
Get ye to IndieGogo!
Enjoy,
Mixerman
