To who it migth concerns
Dear sir or madam,
hereby I would like to introduce the motives why I chose to apply for St John’s University as an exchange student.
My name is Denis Kraft, I am 22 years old and I live with my family in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
When I finished school in 2007 I was spoilt for choice which field of
study would probably fit me best. Should I choose English Studies,
Biology or maybe Business Economics?
During my civilian service a few months later, I spontaneously decided to apply for the course of studies Corporate Finance at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences. To
be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect in case of being
accepted of enrolment, since we never discussed issues relating to
Business Economics in school, but still I wanted to give it a try.
Several months later, when I nearly gave up hope, my parents surprised
me on my 22nd birthday by handing the letter of acceptance
over to me, which they successfully were able to hide. Therefore I began to
study at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences in October, 2008.
Even before I started my studies, I knew that I wanted to spend at
least one term abroad. Luckily, a fellow student planned to visit
England for the same purpose, so we decided to visit your university
together. I think this way we are able to encourage and help one
another.
The actual reasons why I made that decision are both simple and comprehensible:
It’s a matter of common knowledge that nowadays everybody should be
able to master the English language entirely, especially those who consider working in the economic sector.
So for me, spending one term in England essentially means to increase
my English skills, but it also means getting to know a different
culture and different people. I think it is a great opportunity to
broaden my horizon and to socialize with people from other countries.
Also, it would be my first habitation in another country for more than
two weeks and for that reason I would be able to improve my
self-independence as well.
I strive to advance my communicative and social skills and, as a consequence, enrich my own initiative and personality.
Of course, another important reason is that studying abroad enhances
the chances to obtain a well-paid job that fits one’s expectations.
Nowadays, it’s becoming more and more a basic prerequisite for students
to obtain multicultural and multinational experience.
I decided to apply for St John’s University because
of its excellent reputation and opportunities.Furthermore, because
of your associate’s convincing presentation at our university a few months ago.
Over all there are only positive things I hear about your university. I
personally believe that this would be a great educational oppurtunity for me.
Yours sincerely,
Denis Kraft
