@ Ant: Tatsächlich hat wohl jedes Land eine eigene Schreibweise für solche arabesken Namen. Im Englischen hat man sich auf "Gadhafi" geeinigt, im Deutschen auf "Gaddafi". Das kann man auch schön an DEM arabischen Nachrichtensender sehen, der im Englischen "Al-Jazeera", im Deutschen "Al-Dschasira" buchstabiert wird. "München" heißt im Englischen ja auch "Munich", umgekehrt war bis vor ein paar Jährchen im Deutschen auch noch "San Franzisko" keine Seltenheit.

02-21-2011 - Libya: The eastern part of the country is in the hand of the protesters. The dictator's son Saif al-Islam Gadhafi claims on national TV that his father will die until the last bullet. In his words the rivers of Libya will "run red" if the people don't stop the protests immediately. Soldiers with machine guns attack the marchers at several places in Benghazi and Tripolis.

02-22-2011 - Libya: In the evening Gadhafi is holding a one hour speech full of hateful shouting. He claims that he would rather die a martyr than to step down. In his eyes the protesters are "rats". Libyan oil companies stop export business as a protest.

02-24-2011 - Libya: Gadhafi announces that Osama Bin Laden is responsible for the protests in Libya on national TV. He says that the protesters are on drugs which they got from foreign agents. During the day, the urban riots are continued - in the city Sawija soldiers shoot anti-aircraft missiles into a mosque. Big parts in the east of Libya are already in the hands of the opposition.

02-25-2011 - Libya: The march on Tripolis continues, several suburbs are already controlled by the rebels. Libyan UNO ambassador Shalgham announces not to support Gadhafi's regime any more and demands penalties against Libya from the western nations.

02-27-2011 - Libya: Only a few parts of Libya capital are still under Gadhafis control. He and his guard forces went to a military base in Tripolis while the UNO claimed massive penalties against him and his clan. The United States start to use satellites to observe the Libyan territory. Barack Obama announces that the penalties could include a military intervention. Until Sunday, around 100.000 Libyans escaped to bordering countries.

02-28-2011 - Libya: Although Gadhafi is not willing to step down and Libyas military is still in possession of tons of poison gas, the western nations hesitate to install a no-fly-zone in Libya.

03-01-2011 - Berlin, Germany: Defence minister zu Guttenberg steps down - the public pressure since the so called "Copy-And-Paste-Affair" has become too much. Despite he made major mistakes which would never be tolerated on an average doctoral candidate, a lot of people still support him.

03-02-2011 - Libya: Civil war. Gadhafis soldiers start an offensive to conquer back important cities. Especially the air force is involved and bombs important places.

03-02-2011 - Frankfurt am Main, Germany: 21 year old Kosovar Albanian islamist Arid U. shoots two US Army soldiers in a bus at Frankfurt Airport in the afternoon. Two other GIs get wounded. According to the arrested culprit he has no connections to terrorist groups.

03-03-2011 - Washington, USA: Authorities publish 22 new charges against US Army soldier Bradley Manning who is under strong suspicion of being the betrayer of more than 250,000 secret diplomatic documents which have been published by WikiLeaks in 2010. The charges include collaboration with the enemy - Manning could get sentenced to death.

03-05-2011 - Sawija, Libya: The military attacks civilians and rebels with tanks and artillery. A local doctor speaks of massacre - 60 people died within two days, hundreds are wounded.

03-06-2011 - Kabul, Afghanistan: About 500 people demonstrate against the ISAF soldiers in Afghanistan. A helicopter crew accidentally killed nine children collecting firewood.

03-09-2011 - Kabul, Afghanistan: British foreign minister William Hague announces the interception of a weapon delivery from Iran to Afghanistan. As it seems, the 122mm rockets in the transport were sent to suppport the Taliban's spring offensive.

03-10-2011 - Berlin, Germany: French president Nicolas Sarkozy wants to intervent in Libya with precision air attacks. Most of the other members of the EU summit in Berlin are still discussing sanctions against Gadhafi.

03-10-2011 - Libya: Since the early morning the NATO is observing Libyas airspace with E-3 Sentry planes. In the meantime the fighting continues - soldiers are conquering back some cities, e.g. Sajiwa.

03-11-2011 - Japan: The strongest earthquake ever measured in Japan cause a Tsunami that devastates Japans eastern coast cities. Five nuclear powerplants have to declare a state of emergency. One of them (called Fukushima Daiichi) has problems with the reactor cooling system. Authorities evacuate close living people.

03-12-2011 - Japan: At 3:36 PM an explosion destroys the reactor hull of Fukushima 1, the nuclear radiation in the surroundings increases massively. Experts believe that there has already been a meltdown.

03-13-2011 - Japan: The second reactor of Fukushima has probably already melted, the third one is close to that. People in Tokio fear the radioactive cloud coming with the wind.

03-14-2011 - Manama, Bahrain: Saudi Arabia who dominates the GCC (Golf Cooperation Council) is sending troops to the country after new Shiitic protests against king Al Khalifa. They are afraid of Bahrain getting influenced by Shiitic Iran after a revolution - both Iran and Saudi Arabia want hegemony in the golf region.

03-15-2011 - Japan: In the night to Tuesday there was a new hydrogen explosion in Fukushima, holes in the hull of one reactor and a fire in a storage building for old fuel rods. The radioactivity in the area is constantly increasing. Despite the massive radiation, 50 people are still working in the power plant to save what can be saved. In the meantime the radioactive cloud reaches Tokio - experts measure increased radioactivity in the capital.

03-17-2011 - New York City, USA: UNO security council decides to impose a no-fly zone in Libya. The United States, Great Britain and France start to prepare air attacks.

03-18-2011 - Tripolis, Libya: Gadhafi reacts with declaring an immediate cease of all hostilities.

03-18-2011 - Sanaa, Yemen: President Salih declares a state of emergency after security forces killing dozens of protesters.

03-19-2011 - Paris, France: Despite the announced cease-fire, Gadhafis troops continue fighting for Benghazi. Members of the European and the African Union discuss the upcoming actions. In the evening Operation Odyssey Dawn starts with fighter jets destroying Libyan tanks and more than 110 BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

03-20-2011 - Libya: Operation Odyssey Dawn is continued. Massive airstrikes stop the offensive against Benghazi and a cruise missile destroys a building of Gadhafis residence in Tripolis. The operation is lead by the United States who try to lower their role.

two US soldiers posing over dead civilians in Afghanistan. The soldiers are charged with several crimes,
including murder and drug abuse. As it turns out, they belonged to a group of five soldiers who called
themselves "Kill Team". They arranged fake attack situations two shoot civilians without getting
punished.

03-21-2011 - Cupertino, USA: The Apple company allows a software application that was made to cure
homosexuality only with the power of Jesus. An accident?

03-23-2011 - Jerusalem, Israel: Unknown people fire a bomb at the bus terminal that injures more than
30 people. One woman dies in the hospital.

03-24-2011 - Brussels, Belgium: After six days of internal arguments, the allied nations come to the
conclusion to let the NATO lead Operation Odyssey Dawn. The intervention in Libya weakens Gadhafis
armed forces - they are running out of fuel.

03-24-2011 - Lewis-McChord, USA: A military justice court sentences the 22-years-old Jeremy Morlock,
member of the "Kill Team", to 24 years in jail. He declares that his drug abuse had nothing to do with
his crimes and that he was aware of doing something wrong.

03-27-2011 - Tripolis, Libya: As she runs into a hotel to tell international journalists about 15 Gadhafi
soldiers raping her, Iman al-Obeidi is dragged away by security guards. When the journalists try to help
her, they got threatened by the guards holding knives and a pistol.
